These instructions are intended for users who want to set up and use the iVMS-4200 Hikvision app on their PC or laptop running the Windows operating system. If you’re using a Mac, the setup process will be quite similar, though the interface might look a little different. Additionally, if you want to set up the Hikvision app on your mobile phone, you’ll find the steps comparable, but tailored for mobile use.
1. Download the Hikvision iVMS 4200 Software

2. Install the App
- Once the software is downloaded, double-click the installer file and follow the on-screen prompts to install it. The installation process is simple and quick.
3. Launch the iVMS-4200 Software
- After installation, launch the app by double-clicking the iVMS-4200 icon on your desktop. You’ll be prompted to register an account. Don’t worry, this account is only for using the app itself and is not related to your CCTV, DVR, NVR, or IP Cameras.
4. Skip the Setup Wizard
- If the app asks you to go through a setup wizard, simply click on “Cancel”. We’ll manually set up the devices later.
5. Go to Device Management
- In the app, click on “Device Management” from the main menu. This is where you’ll be able to add and manage your Hikvision devices like cameras, DVRs, or NVRs.
6. Add Your Device
- For DDNS/Static IP Address Users:
- Enter the DDNS or Static IP address details provided to you by our team. Once you’ve input all the necessary info, click “Add”. If the information is correct, you should see the serial number of your device appear.
- For Hik-Connect Users:
- If you’re using Hik-Connect, click on “Add New Device Type”, then choose “Cloud P2P Device”. Next, select “Cloud P2P Device” again, enter your country, and log in using your Hik-Connect account. After logging in, you’ll be able to view all the Hikvision devices linked to your Hik-Connect account.
7. View Live Feed
- To start watching live footage, click on “Control Panel” and select “Main View”. Double-click the DVR/NVR/IP Camera you want to monitor. The live video feed should now be displayed on your screen.
8. Playback Recorded Videos
- For video playback, return to the “Control Panel” and click on “Remote Playback”. Set the start and end times for the video you want to review, then double-click the device where the footage is stored. The video will start playing.
9. Change Device Password
- To change the password for your DVR/NVR/IP Camera, go to “Device Management”, select the device you want to modify, and click on “Remote Configuration”. From here, you can update the password for better security.
